City Council Vice-President Chris Smith is a local attorney and graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law. He chairs the Finance Committee and serves as the COTA Liaison.

​This year, I’m running for my fourth term on City Council. For the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Vice President of Council, helping to shape policy and pass legislation that supports responsible growth, enhances city services, and protects what makes Grandview Heights a great place to live.
As Finance Chair, I’ve prioritized smart budgeting that balances vital investments in infrastructure, parks, and public services with the fiscal responsibility needed to maintain our AAA bond rating. Major achievements include securing financing for the new Parks & Recreation Building and our Police/Fire/Administration campus, completed last year. I’ve also worked to keep property taxes reasonable and even helped enact an income tax cut.

In my role as past Economic Development Chair, I supported transformative projects like Grandview Yard and Grandview Crossing, driving sustainable economic growth. As the COTA Liaison, I’ve worked to ensure residents have access to dependable public transportation. I’m also proud to have helped pass important environmental initiatives, including energy aggregation legislation.
